Will Social Media affect Online Recruitment?

The BBC Technology correspondent, Rory Cellan-Jones released an article last week on ‘Virtual job-hunting: Technology fills situations vacant’. It highlighted the recent use of social media in recruitment, and how it is transforming the recruitment market.

Social media has definitely had a big effect on how businesses communicate with their customers and potential candidates. Some companies have used this tool for recruiting staff, because of the exposure to a large target audience. Social Media could likely take over the traditional job boards, as it provides more focused advertising within a large network of professionals.

Rory Cellan-Jones goes on to say that “… it is just as important for businesses to find the right people in a timely and cost-effective way.” SalesMatch have embraced this technological requirement by providing a completely unique recruitment service. It is based on a pay as you go model. This means that unlike most job boards and social media advertising, you do not need to wait for candidates to apply for your job or sort through the mass of irrelevant applications.

How does it work? Candidates from the SalesMatch database are matched to employer’s roles by professional and industry experience and their sales behavioural profile. The site is sales specific therefore it attracts sales professionals who are currently looking for work. It offers candidates control of their anonymity. Attracting candidates who are currently in work, but do not want their personal details on other job sites for their current employer to discover.

SalesMatch have embraced social media to help both their employers and candidates with recruitment and personal development. SalesMatch offer candidates regular updates on new jobs, latest news and career development through Twitter & Facebook. Employers can receive relevant news stories, articles, follow and comment on discussions through Twitter & LinkedIn.
